Crafty Cuts
How do you decide which quotes you put into your scrapbook?
Film editing is probably a bit similar, just on a bigger scale.
With our #Scrapbookdoc documentary Alicia and I like to have all the transcripts organized. Based on the story outline, we'll try to find the best quotes from our subjects. Once we have a good line we'll cut it out and paste it onto a note card.
These cards will be arranged onto our "storyboard" later and we'll begin to structure the entire narrative.
It's a tedious process, but we've found it really help us "hear" the story as it comes together. Also, shuffling the quotes with physical objects on a big board is just a lot more fun than looking at an editing computer all day long -- because it's tangible! Can you relate?
